Flying Star Feng Shui (Xuan Kong Fei Xing) is one of the most sophisticated and accurate systems in classical Chinese metaphysics. Unlike static Feng Shui methods, Flying Stars recognize that energy is constantly changing, influenced by time cycles that affect every building and space.
The Flying Star system is based on the Lo Shu magic square, where nine numbers (representing nine types of energy or "stars") move through a building in specific patterns. These movements occur on multiple time scales: 20-year periods, annual cycles, monthly cycles, and even daily cycles.
Each star carries distinct energy qualities:
| Star | Element | Nature | Positive Aspects | Negative Aspects |
|------|---------|--------|------------------|------------------|
| 1 White | Water | Auspicious | Career success, intelligence | Loneliness when afflicted |
| 2 Black | Earth | Inauspicious | Fertility (historically) | Illness, obstacles |
| 3 Jade | Wood | Inauspicious | Legal matters | Arguments, lawsuits |
| 4 Green | Wood | Mixed | Romance, creativity | Scandals, infidelity |
| 5 Yellow | Earth | Most Inauspicious | Transformation | Misfortune, accidents |
| 6 White | Metal | Auspicious | Authority, power | Loneliness when afflicted |
| 7 Red | Metal | Inauspicious | Communication | Theft, violence |
| 8 White | Earth | Most Auspicious | Wealth, prosperity | Stubbornness |
| 9 Purple | Fire | Auspicious | Fame, celebration | Fire hazards |
Understanding these nine stars is the foundation for all Flying Star analysis.
